Station types

When starting your FM station there are several options available to you:

Low power FM. This type of station operates at lower power than commercial stations, so it covers a smaller area depending on your terrain and the exact amount of power you are permitted. the low power FM service may enable you to broadcast anywhere near from 500mW to 100W, and may be license-free or alternatively it may be licensed. This level of power is sufficient to cover anywhere between a radius of a few miles to ten miles.

Full power FM. These are usually used for commercial radio stations and will generally require your obtaining a license to broadcast. Because of the complexity surrounding broadcasting on a full power FM commercial frequency, it is essential to utilize the services of someone who has experience in this field.

Internet Streaming. Although this option does not allow you to broadcast on radio frequencies, you are able to put your audio content live on the internet. You station can reach a worldwide audience and you can stream in your choice of format. This type of radio station can use a great deal of bandwidth, however, so it is important to have a fast speed internet connection with a high data cap limit.
